Open Meet for free

Birdsuite Meet is a browser-based video calling tool by Berlin Bird Studios in Germany. Audio and video run peer-to-peer and encrypted, directly between participants; nobody needs an account or an app. Free allows 4 people for 60 minutes, Pro (€10/month) up to 8 people with no time limit, and Max (€20/month) adds AI meeting minutes.

The problem

You want a quick call with a client, your team or your family. But first someone has to create an account, install an app or sign in somewhere. And where do your audio and video actually go?

The solution

With Meet you start a meeting in one click and send the link. Whoever opens it joins in the browser — no account, no app, and audio and video go directly between your devices. Pro removes the time limit, and with Max an AI writes the minutes.

How it works

  1. 1

    Start a meeting

Click "Start a meeting". Meet creates a room with its own link right away.

  2. 2

    Share the link

Send the link by email or chat. Guests open it in the browser, pick camera and microphone and join.

  3. 3

    Talk

Audio and video go directly between you. Share your screen, send reactions or raise your hand.

Features

No account, no app

A current browser and the link are all it takes. Nobody has to register or install anything, not even the host.

Directly between you

Audio and video run peer-to-peer and encrypted (WebRTC, DTLS-SRTP). Our server only helps set up the connection.

AI minutes in German and English

A transcript by speaker, minutes with action items and a spoken summary. Only people who agree are recorded, and the audio is deleted after processing.

Max

Screen sharing, also from a second device

Share your screen or pair a second device: it shares its screen without echo while your main device carries your audio and video.

Hand-gesture control

Raise your hand, mute your mic or send reactions — with gestures in front of the camera. Recognition runs locally in your browser.

Scheduled meetings

With a free account you schedule single meetings and series and send calendar invitations. Changes and cancellations update your guests' calendars, and all dates are available as a calendar subscription.

Watch videos together

Show an MP4, WebM or MOV video up to 2 GB and everyone watches in sync. It is deleted when the meeting ends, after 24 hours at the latest.

Max

REST API for scheduled meetings

Create, move and cancel meetings with a personal token, for example from a script or an MCP server. Invitations still go out automatically.

Data and privacy

Processing
Audio and video travel encrypted, directly between the participants' browsers (WebRTC, peer-to-peer). Our server in France only helps set up the connection.
Storage
We do not store audio or video. Room name, display names and connection data are deleted when the meeting ends; for plan limits we record start time, duration and number of participants. Scheduled meetings stay in your account until you delete them.
Processors
Host Europe (Strasbourg, France) runs our servers. Only when no direct connection is possible, for example behind a firewall, a Cloudflare TURN relay forwards the already encrypted data; Cloudflare sees IP addresses but no content.

What Meet can’t do

  • No large rounds, webinars or live streams: every device connects directly to every other, which only works for small groups.
  • No waiting room: anyone with the link can join.
  • No recording of the meeting as a video file.
  • No text chat in the meeting.
  • Screen sharing does not work in every mobile browser, for example not on the iPhone.

Frequently asked questions

Do participants need an account or app?
No, a current browser and the link are enough. You only need a free account if you want to schedule meetings in advance and send invitations.
How many people can join?
4 on the free plan, up to 8 with Pro. For webinars or larger groups Meet is the wrong tool: every device connects directly to every other, which only works for small groups.
How long can a meeting last?
60 minutes on the free plan, with no time limit on Pro. The clock starts when the second person joins. The plan of the person who created the room counts; guests pay nothing.
Is Birdsuite Meet encrypted? Who can listen in?
Audio and video travel encrypted, directly between participants (WebRTC, DTLS-SRTP). Our server only helps set up the connection and never receives audio or video. If no direct connection works, a relay forwards the already encrypted data. Anyone with the link can join, so share it only with your guests.
Is Birdsuite Meet GDPR compliant?
Meet is built to be privacy-friendly; whether it fits your use case is your call. The operator is Berlin Bird Studios in Germany, the connection server is in France, and audio and video do not pass through our servers. We have data processing agreements with Cloudflare (relay) and our hosting provider. The privacy policy has the details.
How do the AI minutes work?
The host starts them in the meeting, and each person is asked for consent; only those who agree are recorded. OpenAI (Ireland) turns the audio into a transcript and minutes, with no training on your data via the API. The audio is deleted right after processing; transcript and minutes stay with the host until they delete them.
Can I schedule meetings and send invites?
Yes, with a free account. You set the time and the guests, and everyone gets a calendar invitation by email, recurring series included; changes and cancellations update their calendars. All dates are also available as a calendar subscription and through a REST API with a personal token.
How is Meet different from Zoom or Jitsi?
With Meet nobody needs an account, not even the host. On meet.jit.si hosts must sign in, and meetings end after 95 minutes (as of October 2026). With Meet audio and video go directly between you, and the operator is a studio in Germany. For large meetings with dozens of people, Zoom or Jitsi are the better choice.
