- How do I send a password securely?
- With a one-time link from Birdsuite Seal. The password is encrypted in your browser, the key lives only in the link, and the secret is deleted after the first open. It is only revealed after a click, so link previews in chat apps cannot use up the link.
- Transfer or Seal — which one for what?
- Transfer for files, Seal for short texts like passwords or credentials. Seal is made for text, not attachments. To send both, put the files in a Transfer and the password in a Seal.
- Does the recipient need an account?
- No. A transfer is collected through a download link, a seal through a one-time link, and any camera app scans a QR code. You don't need an account to send either.
- Do QR codes from Scan expire?
- No, static QR codes never expire. They contain the link itself and don't depend on our server, so they work as long as the target exists.
- Are my files encrypted in Transfer?
- Yes, they are stored encrypted in Hetzner object storage in Germany and deleted automatically when they expire. Transfer is not end-to-end encrypted, so use Seal for passwords and other secrets.
