Open Transfer for freeBirdsuite Transfer is a service by Berlin Bird Studios for sending large files via download links. Without an account you can send up to 5 GB per transfer for free, available for up to 7 days. Plus (€6/month) allows 100 GB and 15 days, Max (€12/month) 1 TB and 30 days. Files are stored encrypted in Germany.
The problem
The file is too big for email, and the cloud folder asks the recipient to sign up. Some transfer services also cap how often you can send for free each month, or store your files outside Germany.
The solution
With Birdsuite Transfer you drop files or whole folders into the browser window, enter your email address and get a link. The files are stored encrypted in Germany, deleted automatically when the link expires, and you get an email for every download.

What Transfer can’t do
- No end-to-end encryption: files are encrypted in transit and in storage, but the key is not held only by you. For passwords, use Birdsuite Seal.
- No unlimited size: every plan has a fixed maximum per transfer.
- No permanent storage: once a link expires, the files are gone, for you too.
- No password protection for links: anyone with the link can download.
- No API: you start transfers in the browser, not through an interface.
