Open Scan for freeBirdsuite Scan is a QR code generator in the browser: codes for links or text, with colours and a logo, as PNG up to 4096 px or SVG. Free codes are static and never expire. With Pro (€5/month, up to 500 codes) you change the target after printing; scans are counted only as daily totals, without IP addresses or cookies.
The problem
Some generators offer "free dynamic codes" that are switched off after a trial. Then the printed flyer leads nowhere, or you are asked to take out a subscription.
The solution
Free codes from Birdsuite Scan are static: the link sits in the pattern, so there is nothing that could be switched off. If you want to change the target later, use a tracked code from Pro; it keeps redirecting after the subscription ends.

What Scan can’t do
- Link or text only: templates for Wi-Fi access or business cards (vCard) are not available yet.
- Static codes cannot be changed after printing, because the content sits in the pattern.
- No print designer: Scan delivers the code, not the flyer or business card around it.
- No statistics for static codes: they do not run through our server, so nobody counts.

- Do the QR codes expire?
- No. Free codes are static: the content sits in the pattern itself, and there is no server that could be switched off.
- What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?
- In a static code the content sits directly in the pattern and cannot be changed. A dynamic code contains a short link whose target can be changed later; for that, the short link has to keep running.
- Can I change the target after printing?
- Yes, with a tracked code from Scan Pro for €5/month. The printed code stays the same, and from the next scan on it leads to the new target.
- What happens to my codes if I cancel Pro?
- They keep redirecting. Changing targets and viewing statistics need Pro again; redirecting only ends if you delete a code or your account.
- Is it tracked who scans my code?
- No. Static codes never touch our server. For tracked codes we only count scans per day, whether they came from a phone and when the last one was, without IP addresses, cookies or other personal data.
- Which formats and sizes do I get?
- PNG in 2048, 3072 or 4096 px, and SVG as a vector. Both include the quiet zone scanners need to read the code.
- What can a code contain?
- A link or free text. Dedicated templates for Wi-Fi access or business cards (vCard) are not available yet.
- Can I add my own logo?
- Yes, as PNG or SVG up to 2 MB, and the file never leaves your browser. With a logo, Scan uses the highest error correction, and the logo takes at most 20 % of the width.
