Open Trim for freeBirdsuite Trim is a free video cutter that runs in the browser. You keep one or more sections of a video, remove the audio if you like and scale it down to 1080p, 720p or 480p. The result is re-encoded as MP4 or WebM on your device, with no upload and no watermark. You need no account.
The problem
The phone video is too long and too big to send, and the first seconds are shaky. Many online editors want you to upload the file first, put a watermark on free exports or ask for an account before you can download.
The solution
Trim opens the video right in your browser. Mark the sections you want to keep, pick the resolution and audio, and export a new file — it only leaves your device if you send it via Transfer yourself.

Drag on the timeline to mark the parts you want to keep and adjust their edges. "Preview the cut" plays the result first.

Choose resolution and audio, check the estimated file size and export. Then download it or send it via Transfer.

No upload
Reading, cutting and re-encoding happen in your browser. The video never lands on a server.
No watermark

Mute and scale down
Remove the audio track with one tick and scale down to 1080p, 720p or 480p if your video is larger.

See the size first
Before you export, Trim shows the estimated file size and output resolution, so you know whether the video will fit.
MP4 or WebM
Where the browser supports it, you get MP4 with H.264 and AAC, otherwise WebM. Large sources are capped at 2560 × 1440 pixels.

Data and privacy

- Trim plays your video in the browser and re-encodes the sections you keep on your device.
- Storage
- We store no videos. Our server only counts, anonymously, that an export was finished — no content, no personal data. If you choose "Send via Transfer", Birdsuite Transfer uploads the file and stores it encrypted in Germany under its own rules.
- Processors
- None for your videos. The page itself is served by our server at Host Europe in Strasbourg, France.

Trim has no paid plan. There is no limit from our side; very large files only depend on your device.
What Trim can’t do
- Export runs in real time: one minute of kept video takes about one minute.
- Whether HEVC, ProRes or other formats open depends on your browser.
- Long 4K videos depend on your device; on iPhone and iPad, Trim exports at most 720p.
- There are no effects, text, transitions or joining of several videos.
- There are no presets for specific platforms and no target size in MB yet.

- Is my video uploaded?
- No. Trim reads, cuts and encodes the video in your browser; it only leaves your device if you send it via Transfer yourself.
- Is there a watermark?
- No. Trim adds no logo or text to the picture, free use included.
- Can I cut out several parts?
- Yes. Drag several sections to keep on the timeline; everything in between is dropped on export.
- How do I make a video small enough for WhatsApp, Discord or email?
- Mostly by cutting it shorter: at 720p and below, Trim works with about 19 MB per minute including audio, and you see the estimated size before you export. Discord allows 20 MB per file by default (as of October 2026), so that fits about one minute; without audio it gets a little smaller.
- Can I remove the audio?
- Yes. Tick "Remove audio" and the exported video has no sound track.
- Why does export take as long as the video?
- Because Trim re-encodes on your device in real time instead of uploading the video to a server. Keep the tab open while it exports.
- Which videos can I open?
- Any video your browser can play, usually MP4, MOV and WebM. Whether HEVC or ProRes works depends on your browser and device.
